About “House of Open Wounds”

Yasnic, once a priest and healer, now serves in a field hospital behind the battlefront as part of an unorthodox medical unit. The Palleseen are waging a campaign to eliminate superstition, and the hospital deals with the wounded from their advancing forces. Yasnic carries a box of orphan Gods and is responsible for saving lives that others consider beyond help. The hospital crew uses forbidden practices, including unapproved magic and necromancy, putting them at risk of being disbanded or punished. Their work is dangerous and illegal, but they continue to save lives despite the dangers. This is the setting of a 2023 novel by Adrian Tchaikovsky.
