Adrian Tchaikovsky was born in Lincolnshire and studied zoology and psychology at the University of Reading. He later practiced law in Leeds. He is a keen live role-player and has also worked as an occasional amateur actor. Tchaikovsky is trained in stage-fighting. His literary influences include Gene Wolfe, Mervyn Peake, China Miéville, Mary Gentle, Steven Erikson, Naomi Novik, Scott Lynch, and Alan Campbell. He is a British author who writes in the genres of fantasy and science fiction.
