About “The day of the scorpion”
The Day of the Scorpion is a 1968 novel by Paul Scott, the second in his Raj Quartet. Set in India during World War II, it explores the declining influence of the British in the country. The story centers on the Layton family, an established Raj family, and the aftermath of the Mayapore incident from The Jewel in the Crown. It also follows the Indian politician Mohammed Ali Kasim and events in the princely state of Mirat.
