Stephanie Plum thinks her career as a fugitive apprehension agent has run its course after being shot at, spat at, cussed at, fire-bombed, mooned, and attacked by dogs, in this 2005 novel by Janet Evanovich. After quitting and cycling through jobs at a button factory, a dry cleaner, and a fast-food restaurant, she takes an office position working for Ranger, while being stalked by a maniac returned from the grave to kill her.
