About “Whispers Underground”

Peter Grant is a police officer learning magic quickly, having faced supernatural threats like the deadly children of the Thames and a killer in Soho. His progress in the police force is slow, especially since he works in an unofficial department with only one other officer. His personal life is also complicated, as his last relationship ended in tragedy. Now, strange and dangerous events are happening in London's underground tunnels, causing major disruptions. To deal with the situation, the Met's Economic and Specialist Crime Unit 9, also known as "The Folly," is called in. This leads to Peter Grant, Britain's last wizard, being sent to investigate. The story is from a 2012 novel by Ben Aaronovitch.
