About “The Eternal Flame”
In an alien universe, the generation ship Peerless was sent to save its home world from destruction. However, the ship lacks fuel to return home and faces severe life support issues due to a population explosion. To control growth, women are subjected to famine to limit childbirth. Astronomer Tamara discovers a massive meteor, the Object, which offers hope for a fuel solution. A biologist works on a better method to control fertility, while his partner uncovers a phenomenon that challenges her understanding of science. As the scientists face societal prejudices, they become involved in two revolutions: one in their understanding of matter and energy, and the other in the roles assigned to women and men. These changes could either destroy the ship or save their world.
