About “The Lamp of God”
Ellery Queen is asked by a lawyer friend to protect the interests of a young heiress. She arrives in New York from England, where she meets a physician who is a family friend. She learns her father, who she has not seen since childhood, has died just as she is about to reunite with her eccentric family and inherit his famous gold stash. They travel to the Black House, an ugly and sinister Victorian home where her father died. The group stays in a small stone house next to it. The next morning, the Black House has disappeared as if it was never there. Ellery must uncover the truth behind the house's disappearance and the missing gold.
