Ellery Queen

1 series 22 books in order 1929–1958

Ellery Queen was a joint pseudonym used by two American cousins from Brooklyn, New York: Daniel Nathan, also known as Frederic Dannay (October 20, 1905–September 3, 1982), and Manford Lepofsky, also known as Manfred Bennington Lee (January 11, 1905–April 3, 1971). Together, they wrote a successful series of detective novels over 42 years, with Ellery Queen serving as both the author's name and the title of their detective hero. Their works inspired movies, radio shows, and television adaptations. They also co-founded and directed Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine, a significant publication in the crime fiction genre. The cousins edited many collections of short stories and wrote four novels featuring a detective named Drury Lane under the pseudonym Barnaby Ross. They allowed the Ellery Queen name to be used as a house name for other authors' works. In 1961, they received the Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America for their contributions to the mystery genre.
