About “The Green Darkness”
Dragon of the Lost Sea is a fantasy novel by American author Laurence Yep, first published in 1982. It is the first book in his Dragon series. Yep had long wanted to adapt Chinese mythology into a fantasy format and began writing the story in 1980 after conducting research. He initially planned to adapt a Chinese folktale about the Monkey King capturing a river spirit that had flooded a city. He first considered presenting the story as a picture book.
