About “Shikasta”
Shikasta, a 1979 novel by Doris Lessing, is the first volume of Canopus in Argos: Archives, presented as a compilation of documents concerning the planet Shikasta, clearly Earth. The Canopian emissary Johar visits Shikasta over millennia, trying to counter the evil influence of the planet Shammat while watching its people hurl themselves toward World War III and annihilation.
