About “Jejak Langkah”

This is a summary of a 1985 novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer. The story follows Minke, a Dutch-educated journalist, as he moves to a new town to start medical school. He hopes to leave his past tragedies behind. However, he becomes involved in the injustices of colonial rule. As he tries to understand and change his environment, Minke goes on a journey of self-discovery in the diverse and troubled setting of the Dutch East Indies.
