About “The Last Camel Died at Noon”
The Last Camel Died at Noon is the sixth book in a series of historical mystery novels by Elizabeth Peters, featuring archaeologist and sleuth Amelia Peabody. Published in 1991, it diverges from the series' usual style by satirizing adventure novels in the tradition of Henry Rider Haggard. A reviewer called it an homage to Haggard. The story takes place during the 1897–1898 dig season, beginning in Egypt and later moving to Sudan. The novel blends mystery with elements of adventure fiction.
