The unsolved "Goff Place Mystery" left a murdered pawnbroker's body never found, with witnesses recalling a parked bus and two dozing elderly passengers on the night of the killing. Scotland Yard's Superintendent Charles Luke develops a farfetched theory that leads, with Albert Campion, to a dusty curio museum called Tether's End.
