Detective Lindsay Boxer is jogging in San Francisco when an explosion destroys a town house, killing three people and leaving an infant missing. A mysterious message at the scene puzzles Lindsay and the police. Soon after, a businessman is found murdered with a similar message. Lindsay turns to her friends—medical examiner Claire Washburn, assistant D.A. Jill Bernhardt, and reporter Cindy Thomas—for help. The Women's Murder Club investigates a series of killings that happen every three days. A federal officer joins the case, and Lindsay discovers one of her friends is hiding a dangerous secret that could endanger them all.
