About “A Breach of Promise”
Wealthy social climbers Barton and Delphine Lambert sue on behalf of their daughter Zillah in a breach of promise suit against her alleged fiance, architect Killian Melville, who refuses to explain why he will not marry her, even to his counsel, Sir Oliver Rathbone. Rathbone turns to investigator Monk and nurse Hester Latterly for help, but the case ends tragically before anyone could have foreseen the outcome.
