About “Waiora”
Waiora Te Ūkaipō - The Homeland is a 1996 play by New Zealand playwright Hone Kouka. It explores the social dislocation experienced by Māori who leave their tribal lands. The play is the first in a trilogy that includes Homefires (1998) and The Prophet (2004).
