About “Nord contre Sud”
Texar's Revenge, or, North Against South is a novel by Jules Verne, originally published in 1887. The story follows James Burbank, an antislavery northerner living near Jacksonville, Florida, and Texar, a pro-slavery southerner with a personal grudge against Burbank. The book was translated into English and released in the United States, where it received little attention. Critics noted Verne's lack of familiarity with certain details of the American Civil War, which may have contributed to its unenthusiastic reception. The novel has remained less well-known than many of Verne's other works. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
