About “The Titan”
The Titan is a novel by Theodore Dreiser, published in 1914. It serves as the second part of Dreiser's Trilogy of Desire, following his 1912 novel The Financier. The two books were originally written as a single manuscript but were split due to their length. The Titan was rejected by Harper & Brothers, the publisher of The Financier, because of its realistic and unflinching portrayal of its characters. It was later published by John Lane. The trilogy's final installment, The Stoic, was published in 1947, after Dreiser's death. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
