About “Seventeen”

Set in turn-of-the-20th-century Indianapolis, this story follows the love story of young William Baxter, showing that people dealt with the same affections and outlooks then as now. Chapters are titled things like Little Sisters Have Big Ears, Romance of Statistics, and Clothes Make the Man. Originally published in 1917, it later reached Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre in 1951.
