About “Sandkings”
"Sandkings" is a novelette by George R. R. Martin, first published in the August 1979 issue of Omni. It won the Hugo Award for Best Novelette, the Nebula Award for Best Novelette, and the Locus Award for best novelette in 1980. It was also nominated for the Balrog Award. The story was included in a 1981 collection titled Sandkings, published by Timescape Books. It remains the only story by Martin to have won both the Hugo and the Nebula Awards.
