Three teens—Conner, Risa, and Lev—join forces to convince the government to repeal laws that allow unwanted teenagers to be captured and unwound, meaning their bodies are disassembled for organ reuse. A company called Proactive Citizenry, which created Cam from the parts of unwound teens, plans to mass-produce rewound teens for military use. The company also hides technology that could end unwinding altogether. As the teens uncover these secrets, a movement of angry teens marches on Washington to demand change. Meanwhile, a group led by Starkey becomes more radical, planning to destroy the camps and execute the adults there, risking a violent future for America.
