The novel tells the story of the Sin War, a conflict between the angelic forces of the High Heavens and the demonic hordes of the Burning Hells. This eternal struggle has spread to Sanctuary, the world of men, where both sides seek to win humanity to their causes. The demon-backed Triune has fallen, leaving Uldyssian to face the Cathedral of Light and its leader, the Prophet. However, the Prophet is revealed to be Inarius, a renegade angel who sees Sanctuary as his own domain. Uldyssian is unaware of other forces vying for control. Both the Burning Hells and the High Heavens now know of Sanctuary, and their armies will do anything to claim it. The story explores the fate of humanity caught between these powerful forces.
