About “The Constant Princess”
A historical novel by Philippa Gregory tells the early life of Katherine of Aragon, born as Catalina, the Spanish Infanta, daughter of rulers and warriors. At age four, she is betrothed to Arthur, Prince of Wales, and raised to become Queen of England. She believes it is her destiny to rule. Upon arriving in England, she faces challenges, including a harsh welcome from her future father-in-law and a young, unimpressive Arthur. She gradually adapts to the Tudor court but is left to shape her future after Arthur dies. To achieve her goal of becoming queen, she marries his younger brother, Henry. Despite opposition from Henry's family and her own parents, Katherine's determination leads her to make a significant decision. The novel reveals the hidden stories behind history, including the influence of women and the impact of personal choices on national fate.
