Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala, leaders of the NUMA Special Assignment Team, are preparing for a submersible race when a Japanese cargo ship catches fire near the Azores. A group of pirates attempts to exploit the situation, but their boat explodes. This prompts Austin and Zavala to investigate the incident. Their search leads them to an underwater graveyard filled with sunken ships and planes. This discovery connects to the work of a missing scientist in Geneva, whose research on magnetics may hold the key to the mystery. To uncover the truth, Austin and Zavala must turn to a Russian operative.
