Lieutenant Jasminder Choudhury, chief of security on the U.S.S. Enterprise, has survived the Borg invasion, but her homeworld, Deneva, has been destroyed. The planet was targeted in a massive attack, leaving it uninhabitable and killing those who did not evacuate. Choudhury wonders if her family was among the displaced or if they are gone. The Enterprise is one of many ships helping displaced persons across the galaxy, as hundreds of thousands search for safety. Captain Jean-Luc Picard is tasked with rescuing and recovering those lost in the invasion. For the first time in generations, Federation citizens face fear and uncertainty. The Enterprise crew, including Picard, must navigate the challenges of war and the difficult path to peace. The story is set in a 2009 novel by William Leisner.
