About “The locked room”
Hinter verschlossenen Türen is a novel by American writer Paul Auster, published in 1986 as a standalone work and in 1987 as the third part of the New-York-Trilogy. The other two parts are Stadt aus Glas and Schlagschatten. It was translated into German by Joachim A. Frank and published in 1989. The story follows the narrator's complex relationship with his childhood friend, the writer Fanshawe. While tasked with managing Fanshawe's literary legacy and writing his biography, the narrator's life becomes increasingly controlled by external forces, leading to an identity crisis.
