About “City of Glass”
The 1985 novel City of Glass is the first part of Paul Auster's New York Trilogy. The other two parts are Ghosts and The Locked Room. It follows Daniel Quinn, who accidentally takes on the role of a private detective and becomes entangled in a search for a fanatical religious utopianist. As he follows the trail, he becomes lost in a labyrinth and loses his sense of identity. While it appears to be a crime novel, City of Glass plays with names, labels, and the boundaries between reality and imagination, ultimately questioning the existence of those involved.
