Star Wars: The New Jedi Order is a series of 19 science fiction novels published between 1999 and 2003, set in the Star Wars Expanded Universe. The story takes place 21 to 25 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, focusing on the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy. The New Jedi Order is the reformed Jedi organization that emerged after the Great Jedi Purge and the fall of the Galactic Empire. Following the purge, the Jedi were reduced to just a few members and were gradually restored under the leadership of Luke Skywalker. Additional related stories, including e-book novellas and comic books, expanded the series to a total of 26 NJO-related works. The series was written by several authors, including Matthew Stover.
