The Merchant Princes is a science fantasy and alternate history series by Charles Stross, consisting of nine novels. The story takes place across parallel worlds that share the same geographical Earth but have different levels of societal development. Members of a specific bloodline can travel between these worlds along with their belongings. The series follows Miriam Beckstein, a technology journalist from a "normal" Earth, who learns she was born in a parallel world and is part of this bloodline. She becomes involved in political conflicts and assassination plots with her estranged family. Using modern technology and her skills as a journalist, she tries to navigate the dangers she faces.
