Nahri, a clever con artist in eighteenth-century Cairo, lives by trickery and deception. The warrior reveals the existence of Daevabad, a legendary city of brass ruled by djinn. Nahri learns she is the last descendant of a powerful family of djinn healers. She enters this world and discovers it is filled with political tensions and ancient rivalries. With the help of an outcast warrior and a rebellious prince, she must embrace her magical heritage to prevent a devastating war. The story explores themes of power, identity, and the consequences of ambition.
