About “The Masters”
The Masters is the fifth novel in C. P. Snow's Strangers and Brothers series. It follows the election of a new Master at the unnamed Cambridge college where the narrator, Lewis Eliot, is a fellow. The novel is set in a college similar to Christ's, where Snow was a fellow. It was dedicated to G. H. Hardy, a Cambridge mathematician, and was the first book in the series to be published in the United States. The story explores the internal politics and personal dynamics of the college community.
