Eric Baldwin is the Federation's leading exologist, an expert in alien lifeforms, and a close friend of Captain Picard. His research has made him many enemies, and he asks Picard to help him disappear completely. However, Picard has little time to focus on Baldwin's request, as the USS Enterprise has become a dangerous place filled with hidden assassins and betrayals.
