Sharpe is a bold, professional, and ruthless soldier who faces a dangerous mission. After returning from battle, he and his regiment are sent north by Wellington. Sharpe is given a critical task: to go behind enemy lines and secure gold that is essential for the war effort. The mission is dangerous, not only because of the enemy but also because of the gold's value. The enemy is a ruthless guerrilla band led by a man who hates Sharpe for stealing his woman. The hermitage, where the gold may be hidden, is grim and filled with bodies. Sharpe hesitates before entering, aware of the risks ahead.
