Set in the world of Shannara after an apocalypse destroyed the old world, where magic has replaced science and a Druid Council of Men, Dwarves, Trolls, Gnomes, and Elves works to rebuild civilization amid ongoing racial warfare. Taking place several years after the events of The Wishsong of Shannara, it features Jair Ohmsford grappling with his obsession with the past and his sister's warning not to trust his magic. Described as an epilogue to The Wishsong of Shannara, following Jair's quest to complete the destruction of the evil Ildatch using only the magic of illusion. A short story by Terry Brooks.
