About “Isles of the Emberdark”

Sixth of the Dusk is a traditional trapper of Aviar, supernatural birds bonded with by his people on the dangerous island of Patji. When his people face invasion by the Ones Above, Dusk leads a desperate effort to modernize. He fears his people may lose their identity in the process. He then takes a risky journey through a mystical portal into the emberdark, seeking salvation with only a canoe, his birds, and his skills. Meanwhile, Starling, a young dragon in human form, and her crew of exiles are in debt and desperate. When Starling discovers an ancient map to a hidden portal, she sees a chance for a valuable discovery. Dusk and Starling, from very different worlds, may find a way to help each other. Together, they face dangerous choices, political struggles, and the lingering power of a dead god.
