The 24th Alleyn detective novel, in which a mysterious wealthy patron gives a young man a bombed-out theater along with a glove said to have belonged to Shakespeare. Once the theater is renovated, the man writes a play about the glove, but its success is followed by a violent death, an attack, and the glove's theft.
