About “Nihon Shoki”

The Nihon Shoki, also known as the Nihongi, is the second-oldest book of classical Japanese history. It is more detailed than the Kojiki, the oldest historical text, and provides a comprehensive record of ancient Japan. Completed in 720 under the supervision of Prince Toneri and with the help of Ō no Yasumaro, the text was presented to Empress Genshō. It reflects Chinese influence on Japanese culture and was created to offer a written history comparable to Chinese annals. The Nihon Shoki is an important resource for historians and archaeologists studying early Japanese history. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
