Lair is a 1979 science fiction horror novel by James Herbert, part of a series that began with his debut novel The Rats. It is the first sequel in the series and the sixth book overall in Herbert's bibliography. Two additional sequels were written by Herbert: Domain in 1984 and The City in 1993, which was published as a graphic novel.
