About “Emissaries from the Dead”
Two murders occur on One One One, an artificial ecosystem built by the universe's dominant AIs to house engineered species, including a violent, sentient race of sloth-like creatures. Counselor Andrea Cort, ordered by the Diplomatic Corps, must choose a suitable homicide suspect from an indentured human community living above a poisoned atmosphere, without implicating the hosts who could obliterate humankind instantly.
