About “Under heaven”
Under Heaven is an epic historical adventure set in a pseudo 8th century China. The novel follows Shen Tai, who has spent two years mourning his father, a celebrated general, by a mountain lake where fierce battles between the Kitai and Tagurans took place. The lake is haunted by the unburied bones of 100,000 soldiers, and Tai has come to honor and redress his father's sorrow by burying the dead alone. His supplies come from his people and the Tagurans, as peace has been secured through the marriage of an imperial princess. One day, Taguran soldiers deliver a letter from the princess, who has given Tai two hundred and fifty Sardian horses as a reward for his courage. Sardian horses are legendary and highly valued by the Kitans. The novel was published in 2010 by Guy Gavriel Kay.
