About “Zoe's Tale”

Zoë Boutin-Perry travels to the colony world of Roanoke with her adoptive parents, John Perry and Jane Sagan, who have taken roles as administrators. Her life changes when her biological father develops technology that grants the Obin self-awareness and consciousness. This breakthrough makes Zoë central to a fragile and threatened treaty between the Obin and the Colonial Union. The novel explores the tensions and challenges that arise from this new reality. The story is set in the 2008 novel by John Scalzi.
