An anonymous tip about a crime in Upper Manhattan leads to a setup. An officer is attacked, but it is not Michael Bennett. New York's top cop is not the only one in danger—one of Bennett's children is injured. A series of murders follows, each with a unique signature, suggesting a professional killer skilled in disguise. Bennett enlists his best investigators to search the five boroughs, but the leads they follow are false. The assassin manipulates the chaos, luring an officer into betraying Bennett and putting another family member in serious danger. Bennett cannot determine the killer's motive, but he recognizes the attack as personal and part of a larger plan.
