About “David Starr, Space Ranger”

David Starr, Space Ranger is the first novel in the Lucky Starr series, a set of six juvenile science fiction books written by Isaac Asimov under the pseudonym Paul French. The book was written between June 10 and July 29, 1951, and published by Doubleday & Company in January 1952. It was originally meant to be the basis for a television series modeled after The Lone Ranger, but the project was never completed. A competing series, Rocky Jones, Space Ranger, was already in development. Since 1971, reprints have included an introduction by Asimov noting that some descriptions of Mars in the novel are now inaccurate due to new scientific knowledge.
