The Indwelling is the seventh book in the Left Behind series and marks the start of the second half of the seven-year Tribulation. It answers the question of who killed Nicolae Carpathia at the end of the previous book, Assassins. The story follows Rayford, Buck, Chloe, and other members of the Tribulation Force as they face intense challenges. Some are suspected of murder, while others walk a dangerous line between resistance and exposure. Rayford must escape Israel, Buck searches for a friend, and Chloe fears for her life and her unborn child. Meanwhile, David, Annie, Mac, and Abdullah live as fugitives inside the enemy's territory. As the world blames Rayford for Nicolae's death, Buck uncovers the truth. The book ends with the funeral of Nicolae, raising questions about safety, guilt, and the unexpected help the Tribulation Force may receive.
