About “Advances in Information Systems”
This volume contains the proceedings of the First International Conference on Advances in Information Systems (ADVIS), held in Izmir, Turkey, from 25 to 27 October 2000. The conference was dedicated to the memory of Professor Esen Ozkarahan, a researcher who made significant contributions to the field of information systems. Organized by the Computer Engineering Department of Dokuz Eylul University, which was established in 1994 by Professor Ozkarahan, the event aimed to bring together researchers from around the world to share new ideas and present their latest findings. The conference received 80 submissions from 30 countries, with 44 papers selected for presentation. Topics covered included general aspects of information systems, databases, data warehousing, computer networks, Internet technologies, image retrieval, information retrieval, and artificial intelligence. The success of the conference was due to the efforts of many individuals, including the Program Committee and reviewers.
