About “The Body Farm”
Little Emily Steiner was found dead after she left a church meeting in North Carolina and walked home along a lakeside path. Her body was discovered days later by the lake, and her murder bears similarities to crimes attributed to the elusive serial killer Temple Gault. Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a forensic pathologist, is called in to assist with the investigation. She works with colleagues Benton Wesley and Pete Marino to uncover the truth. The case is complicated by poor initial medical reports and confusing evidence, including a strange mark on the child’s body and trace evidence from an unfamiliar plant. A unique blaze-orange duct tape is also found, raising questions about the killer’s identity. Scarpetta must also deal with the emotional toll of the case and help her niece, who is accused of espionage. The Body Farm, a research facility in Tennessee, plays a key role in uncovering the truth. The novel highlights Scarpetta’s determination and emotional depth as she faces both professional and personal challenges.
