About “Behold the Man”
Karl Glogauer is a modern professional searching for meaning through shallow relationships and a meaningless job. His internal conflicts stem from his father's conventional Christianity and his mother's hidden Judaism, leading him to an unusual fascination with the messiah. After a relationship ends and he meets a reclusive physics professor, Karl is given a chance to face his obsession and embark on a journey that no one has undertaken before. He travels to Palestine in A.D. 29, where he discovers that Jesus Christ is not the figure history portrays. He sees a chance to alter history by making a final sacrifice. This 1969 novel by Michael Moorcock explores themes of faith, identity, and the power of choice.
