In Coronado National Monument, an elderly couple's car goes off a mountain, and two trash bags containing human remains are later found. Cochise County sheriff Joanna Brady, balancing a newborn, teenage daughter, writer husband, and difficult mother, investigates the remains of a handicapped woman and a missing resident from a care facility with a suspicious track record, despite a note suggesting suicide.
