About “Black god's shadow”
Black God's Shadow is a collection of five novelettes featuring Jirel of Joiry, a red-haired and fiery warrior-woman created by C. L. Moore. The stories, originally published in the 1930s in Weird Tales, are set in a fortified land close to magic. The first story, "Black God's Kiss," introduced Jirel to readers in 1934. It follows her journey into a nightmare land beneath her castle, where she finds a monstrous weapon. She returns in "Black God's Shadow" to deal with the evil she caused. Another story, "Hellsgarde," takes place in a haunted castle surrounded by mists and wilderness, where the undead are a threat. "Jirel Meets Magic" involves a wizard and a dying dryad who gives Jirel a talisman. "The Dark Land" features a character named Pav who exists in his own world. The collection presents magical, time-haunted worlds that are unlike Earth, filled with beauty, sadness, love, and hate.
