About “Night and Day”

Paradise, Massachusetts, police chief Jesse Stone deals with two troubling situations in the novel by Robert B. Parker. First, he investigates claims that the junior high school principal, Betsy Ingersoll, inspected students' undergarments. Ingersoll says she was protecting the students' propriety, but Jesse faces difficulty in pressing charges due to her powerful attorney husband. At the same time, a man known as "The Night Hawk" terrorizes women in the town. He starts by watching through windows but escalates to forcing women to strip at gunpoint and taking photos. Jesse must solve both cases before more harm occurs.
